I haven't been around much lately because I have a new full-time job: Dog catcher. No, we don't have a dog (nor am I tempted to have a dog), but we don't need one because Baby T fills that role nicely. He chews up every shred of paper mistakenly left on the floor. He gets into the trash and the recycling when I'm not looking. He even found the stash of paper napkins I'd hidden inside some nesting bowls, and happily tore them into a million pieces. Every day. He climbs on the furniture and bites on everything. It's exhausting. He's got all the motivation of a 2 year-old, in a 10-month body. (At least he still takes two naps a day.) Coop was very oral and we dealt with the paper fettish, and Sweet A was moving all around the house at 4 months, but it looks like we have the best of both in Baby #3.
And yes, Mom, I know those blind cords are a choking hazard. I thought they were out of reach.

hm. I always say to myself, when I catch Huckleberry after he's chewed up something else I thought I was going to keep, "At least with kids it will be easier, because they will learn from their spankings" (Huckleberry doesn't learn. He has learned to know what he is doing/has done is GOING to get him in trouble as soon as I appear around the corner, but he has not learned to NOT DO IT in the first place).
This post does not reassure me ;)
There is more wrong with this picture than just the cords. How in the world did he get up there? Did he climb on those shaky, unstable chairs? (I must admit though, he looks very grown-up standing on that table trying to undo the blinds!)
Love, MOM
It's a good thing he didn't fall out the window!
Sarah- all I can say is Hahahahahahahaha. :) Kids are WAY better than dogs, but you will experience some similar difficulties. And children have souls, and the Holy Spirit, so I'd put my hope in my child over my dog any day.
Mom- I set him on the little chair (although he can climb up by himself if he can push a pillow next to it) so he can watch the kids playing outside. From there it was a pretty small step.
RYP- That was my first thought, too!
Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who runs for a camera when my child does something naughty. :)
ummmm, so i guess blanket training is out of the question, huh!?!? :)
my first thought was, "aw man! she has her windows open!!!" come quickly, fall!
Well, we do have blanket time, and playpen time, but that's only 1 1/2 hours of our day! :) He's not crazy about the johnny jump-up anymore...I guess it's too confining. He's actually my most responsive child as far as discipline goes, so he obeys if I say "no" i just have to be by his side every second.
brite, this is absolutely hilarious and adorable...glad you got it on your camera. he's edible!
Since everyone else is giving their "first thoughts" here's mine: "Oh man! He's so cute! Why don't they just eat him?" I'm glad you got that naughtiness moment on camera :)
That is really funny. I think Cadi found some of her boys on the top of the back of the toilet. She definitely had climbers!
Just look at it this way, you won't have to worry anymore about the scraps of food that fall on the floor :-)
Yesterday I was visiting and Peter was using the potty. After a bit I decided to check on them and Chris had pulled up and was playing in the potty, reaching between Peter's legs!! Let's just say Peter has been on there for a while. Kids are so disgusting!!!!
I agree...he is tooooo cute!
The third child's job is to keep you on your knees (in case you haven't learned yet with #1)! Worn holes in the knees of your jeans yet? I did...between playing on the floor with them and praying...a great pair of jeans became shorts!
