Don't worry, this isn't some shameless plea for people to comment on my blog. I love hearing from everyone, and some of my favorite blogs are like a little community with the back and forth banter, but that's not really my question. My real question, for those with blogs or those who read blogs (which would be you):
When you leave a comment or a question on a blog, do you prefer a comment back from the blog author, or a personal email? I know people who do it both ways. I like the blogs that have a running dialog in the comment section, just because sometimes the blog author is addressing my same question or whatever. Some people comment but have no email address associated with their profile page, so I have no way to contact them except to comment on their blog (kind of awkward). Then again, it's always nice to hear from a real actual friend in an email. What do you think? The downside of getting a comment back in a blog is that if I don't subscribe to the comments, sometimes I forget to go back and check.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Compare and contrast.

When I'm responding to comments on my blog, I always comment back on my blog. It's certainly easier that way for me!
However, I don't think many of them ever return to my blog, but that's OK. With your blog, I always return so I don't think it's an issue (for me) with missing a comment--or at least that's true most of the time!
i don't expect a comment back (i don't comment back to people on my blog either... usually). but i do love comments. and so i like to comment on other people's blogs also! do unto others... i read that somewhere once.
p.s. i loved your comment on my last blog entry with the photo session of the single mom. very sweet. very brite.
I definitely prefer to be e-mailed, though I have a hard time practicing that with my own commenters. Getting a reply comment is fine, but I don't want to keep checking back to see if they've commented on my comment yet. Plus, by getting an e-mail, if it's someone you know, you can catch up a little bit and make it more personal instead of writing a comment that's 3 feet long, like I'm doing right now. Anyway, just my preference...
It depends on the situation. If it's a very specific question, I'll email them back. With wordpress, they HAVE to enter an email to be able to leave a comment so I don't have that problem. ;) I also often copy and paste my response into the comment form, so people can read the response in the comment section, too. If it's really not a big deal, I might just respond in the comments and not bother with an email but most often I do both. (I think. Ha.)
i never even thought about it, sweet one. i'm good. i never expect anything from you. i'm happy enough with the blog itself. :)
I like to comment...didn't give much thought to the email, perhaps I will add that button :) it's always nice to know SOMEONE reads the blog, but since I do it mostly for my own therapeutic release, it's a non issue. mostly. :)
if i pose a question on someone's blog, i do try to remember to subscribe to the comments so that i can see if my question is answered. i personally think it makes the most sense to answer a question in the comments section because another reader might want to know the answer as well. i think that would be the most helpful to the "blog community at large". :) i would not expect a blog author to contact me via email to answer my question unless i'd emailed them with my question in the first place.
i usually don't have time to comment back on comments made to my blog, but if there's a specific question, i do try to make a point to answer it. sometimes i will give a quick answer in the comments but then follow up with a more in-depth email if i know their email address.
Thanks for the feedback!
When I ask a question, I try to remember to check back when I've asked a question to see if they've answered it in their comment section. Seems people often come over to my blog to answer my questions for them by leaving a comment for me.- On the flip side: usually I answer in my actual blog posts or leave a comment on their blog when someone has asked me a question. OR Facebook them an answer. No set system here obviously :-) What about the Disquis (sp?) system?
I love getting an e-mail. Sometimes I forget to check back for a reply!
