quote of the day

Cooper: Daddy! I think God is answering my prayers! (At this point, I'm interested, wondering what he's been praying about.) I haven't been saying in my head how fat mommy is! Although now I'm thinking about it again.

A little back story: We've been talking about the 9th commandment in family worship over the last few weeks, so one night the point was made that keeping the 9th commandment means sometimes not saying things even if they are true. The kids came up with the example that they didn't need to mention how fat I was (34 weeks pregnant, friends!), even if it was true. So Warren first told them that they were never, ever, in their whole entire lives, to say that their mother is fat. And secondly, there is a difference between fat and full-o-baby. That we need to respect mothers who give their bodies to bear children. So then Cooper asked if he could just say it in his head. Of course, all these are good questions...now we can talk about right thinking leading to right speaking and living. So no, saying in your head that your mom is fat is not an option. He's SUCH a stickler for rules, so he really has been trying, but it was pretty funny to see what a struggle it had been for him not to think about my largeness.I think after 20 plus years of this kind of training, he'll make a great husband.
